Shehnai By Velvet’s ‘Dawat-e-Shadi Mubarak’ opens small window for bookings till end of October
The auspicious wedding season (shubh muhurat) as per Hindu traditions, based on astrological alignments, is starting from November 21 and will continue till December 12, a brief 20-day window which will see a flood of Hindu marriages happening across the country.
Good marriage venues in the larger Chandigarh tricity region, especially with single marriage facilities, are choc a bloc, having taken bookings months in advance. But there are fortunately a few large-to-very-large resorts with multiple venues, some of which are still available for bookings for the season.
One such popular venue is the Velvet Clarks Exotica, a resort-cum-hotel in the mid-scale segment, spread over a massive 14 acres of expanse, closest to Chandigarh towards Zirakpur. Apart from offering 68 spacious and well-appointed rooms in four categories, the resort has seven spacious lawns and 11 small, medium and large banquets, which can accommodate from as less as 10 persons to as large a gathering as 2500, and perhaps the largest parking space in the region claimed to accommodate 900 cars.
Announcing the second edition of Shehnai By Velvet’s ‘Dawat-e-Shadi Mubarak’, General Manager of Velvet Clarks Exotica Zirakpur Maninderjit Singh Sibal told select media invited for the event that the exclusive wedding experience offers families a complete destination wedding experience where near perfect location, multi-cuisine dining, beautifully designed venues, comfortable accommodation, professional hospitality and ample space for parking, which is a pain point in several other venues, come together seamlessly.
During the ‘Dawat-e-Shadi Mubarak’ window, which will last till the end of October, the Velvet Clarks Exotica team along with the resort-cum-hotel’s regular business partners like tenting, lighting and decoration partner, ghori and buggy partner, mehndi and churah partner, beauty parlour partner, turban tying partner, etc, will be available for consultation to book destination wedding functions.

Bookings done during this period get an exclusive complimentary two-night honeymoon package, subject to applicable booking terms and conditions, which can be availed at any of the 90 Clarks group properties spread across 75 cities in the country.
Later in a one-to-one conversation with your own news portal LifeInChandigarh.com Sibal shared that though individually the largest lawn and banquet can host up to 2500 guests, in its entirety Velvet Clarks Exotica’s 14-acres expanse can accommodate much later gatherings. “The highest ever gathering we have had was of 6500 people,” he boasted.
He claimed that because of its size and strategic location in Zirakpur, being the gateway to Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula, and enjoying excellent connectivity to Chandigarh International Airport, Chandigarh Railway Station and major highways, Velvet Clarks Exotica is patronised by people from far and near as a destination venue, ideal for hosting various functions, programmes and events like roka, mehendi, sangeet ceremonies, weddings and receptions, seminars, conferences, etc.
The general manager further shared that the 68 well-appointed hotel rooms available in four categories – superior rooms, premier rooms, executive suites and Velvet suites – and the massive space for parking, among the largest in the region, are an added advantage.
“The hotel’s culinary team is geared to create memorable dining experiences tailored to each client’s preferences. Apart from authentic Punjabi delicacies, it offers a diverse range of multi-cuisines,” he asserted.
