Unveiling a ‘Look Book’ on the occasion, Aman Sandhu said it offers a peep into her collections with some key designs of her 20 year journey so far. “The design in each ‘look’ represents the timeless heritage of Punjabi culture. The floral motifs, hand embroidery, beaded embellishments, and intricate patterns on each of the attires mirror craftsmanship of the highest order,” she added.

In traditional Punjabi suits, she plays with a variety of fabrics for shirt and bottom like Pure Georgette, Pure Self Georgette, Pure Silk, Velvet, Crepe Karanchi, Crepe Tabbi Silk, Pure Crepe and Pure Self Crepe. In dupattas, the choice is between Net, Chinon Chiffon, Self Chiffon, Georgette Chiffon, Organza, Tabbi Silk, Tissue Silk and Banarsi Silk. For shawls, she invariably uses velvet fabric. Handwork is her first choice for detail, though she also at times uses aari work and machine work.

The couturier says she has 48 dedicated workers, some them have been with her right from when she started in 2002. With ‘Rabb di mehar’, business has been brisk, with most of her collections getting sold in no time. “I am expecting an even better response for the November 19 exhibition,” she states with confidence.

Dwelling deeper into her collections, she said “We’ve passed on from the era of playing safe to that of continuous experimentation. This is a season of bright and popping colours, essentially rainbow colours. Hues of pink, blue, yellow, orange and even purple would be the colours to look out for this season. Accessorising, like jacket style suits, will also be a key element. Being an explorer, I love to experiment with the handwork, fabrics, embroideries and fusion dresses, and it will reflect in my collections.”

Apart from haute couture, Aman Sandhu has also launched her western wear line by the name ‘Clowest’.

Aman admits that her collections would be perceived by most to be expensive, but defends the high price saying all her designs are unique to every piece and there is no compromise on the quality of fabric and craftsmanship, which is guaranteed. The collection starts from Rs. 4,000-4500.

There’ll be celebration discounts on offer in the exhibition.
