Dry eye syndrome, caused by the oil grands located within the eyelids, near the eyelashes, secreting insufficient meibum, an oily substance that helps prevent the watery layer of tears from evaporating too quickly and keeps the eye surface lubricated, is taking on alarming proportions with some hospital-level estimates putting its prevalence as high as 40-50% .
Though traditional eye drops do provide relief, this is often short-lived.
Now a combination of breakthrough technologies introduced by an advanced eye hospital in Chandigarh promises to treat dry eyes at its root cause by tackling inflammation of the oil glands and restoring natural oil secretion.
Inaugurating the non-invasive, AI-enabled Envision machine manufactured by InMode, a global leader in minimally invasive technologies, at the ProSight Eye Hospital in Sector 43, Chandigarh, its head and well-known ophthalmologist Dr Sheetal Brar said the treatment combines precisely targeted radiofrequency (RF) and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technologies to address various eye concerns, particularly dry eye syndrome. An additional advantage is that it also rejuvenates the delicate skin around the eyes reducing fine lines, wrinkles and eye bags, and improves overall eye health.
Sameer Wadhera, Managing Director, InMode India, who was also present, endorsed Dr Sheetal’s claim that ProSight Hospital has become the first medical facility not only in India but entire South Asia to install the machine, which is the gold standard in treatment of dry eye syndrome at its roots.

While Dr Sheetal shared that the treatment involves 3-4 sitting of less than 15 minutes each with a gap of 2-3 weeks between sittings and patients start experiencing substantial relief from the first sitting itself, Wadhera added that the biggest advantage of the treatment is that it is non-invasive, there is no downtime and no special post procedure precautions are required to be taken.
