In conversation with news website LifeInChandigarh.com at the opening ceremony on Monday, Ranbir Shukla and Lalit Shukla, CMD and MD respectively of Computer Syndicate shared: “90% of the sales of computers, peripherals, accessories, printers, etc are still happening in closed box mode, which at times leads customers, especially those who are not very well informed, to buy products which may not completely satisfy their specific requirements.

They will be promoted by the brand, featuring them prominently in its cafes and on official offline platforms so that they get the recognition they so richly deserve.

The youth icons on their part are expected to feature in various innovative activities planned by the brand to motivate the youth to believe in themselves, passionately live their dreams and become inspiring achievers for many others.

Sharing his thoughts with news website LifeInChandigarh.com on the occasion, Sahil Baweja, Founder and CEO, Leapster Restaurants Pvt Ltd, the official licensee of the brand ‘Roadies’ for running and operating Roadies Koffeehouz outlets, said, “the idea behind having these superstars is to bring their talents, skills and achievements at a very young age under the spotlight and to stress on the youth that these achievers are from amongst them. They can also ignite the spark in them, set high goals and then work hard to achieve them.”

Baweja further said this is part of Roadies Koffeehouz’ commitment to partner with various communities/tribes, including biker groups, off-roaders, rappers and entrepreneurs, to promote local achievers who have dared to make an impact.

“Since we are opening Roadies Koffeehouz cafes in every neighbourhood in Chandigarh, we want to give our customers a feel of local community connect. So, our attempt is that each of the cafes has a different set of superstars, preferably from the same neighbourhood,” he added.

The brand claims to serve the best English breakfast in town with a wide variety in its gourmet food and coffee menus. Try their sourdough toasts, vegan tacos, omelettes, strawberry blueberry pancakes, French toasts, croissants, mocha coffee and signature Roadies shakes. Savour your favourite flavour in speciality coffees or fuel your passion with one and only Yuzu Soda pop, prepared with the extracts of refreshingly mind blowing Japanese citrus fruit. Iced coffee is another option.

For a scrumptious lunch and dinner, the café offers a variety of Indian and Asian platters. The menu also offers hand-stretched fire oven pizzas and hand-made patty burgers.

If you believe in every hour being a coffee hour, Roadies Koffeehouz is an option worth considering, during traditional hours, and beyond.

So, work, chill & coffee, and break free from your routine!

Celebrity Chef Kunal Kapur Adds All New Platters To The Menu

0

It truly echoes the ‘Roadies’ spirit of fight, grit & glory. Uniquely designed with a wholesome Roadies feel in its interiors, a 6th Roadies Koffeehouz franchise outlet in Chandigarh and Punjab was opened for a preview in Sector 7 Madhya Marg Chandigarh on Friday. Gracing the occasion was celebrity chef, restaurateur and Master Chef India judge Kunal Kapur, who has also officially joined the Roadies Koffeehouz tribe.

The furious pace at which the franchisee outlets have opened, six in a little over as many months, also epitomises the aggressive spirit of the Roadies show and is in itself testimony to the enthusiastic response the outlets are apparently receiving from both Roadies fans and other guests to its 24×7 service concept.

Photos By : Life In Chandigarh & Roadies Koffeehouz

Addressing a media preview on the expansion of the franchise in the afternoon, Sahil Baweja, Founder and CEO, Leapster Restaurants Pvt Ltd, the official licensee of the brand ‘Roadies’ for running and operating Roadies Koffeehouz outlets, and Sachin Puntambekar, Business Head, Consumer Products, Viacom18, the franchise, said this is the 4th outlet in the tricity after the ones in Sector 35, Aroma Complex and Mohali and two are in other cities of Punjab, namely Ludhiana and Patiala.

Sahil further added: “We have four more stores signed for Punjab – in Jalandhar and Amritsar – and another five are under construction and five more have been signed-in in ever happening Gujarat.”

The media event was followed up with a by-invitation-only preview dinner for the city’s well-known food aficionados and enthusiasts, who got to meet and interact with Chef Kunal Kapur apart from enjoying the elaborate menu items, including two new additions – one Veg and one N-Veg – created and crafted by Kunal. The Bocconcini Airy Dahi Kofta and Chicken Korma Platters were cooked live for the invited guests by the celebrity chef.

The outlet opens its doors to the public from 11 a.m. on Saturday (December 10).

Welcoming Chef Kunal Kapur into the Roadies Koffeehouz tribe, Sahil said; “The celebrity chef has further bolstered our existing rich menu with his culinary swag and all new platter menu. Our valued customers have shown immense love to our experiments with coffee and appreciated our focus on fresh cooked gourmet comfort food.

“The dishes have been put together to offer an experience that starts with comfort food but elevates each bite with fusion accompaniments such as Dhokla Chaat and fire oven-cooked Khameeri Roti. I am sure this will be a great addition to the Roadies Koffeehouz lunch and dinner platters and people will experience the adventure and thrill of fusion flavours,” he added.

The Sector 7 outlet boasts of a sprawling area of over 2500 square feet with a live kitchen and live stage for performances. Patrons can also enjoy cold beverages served in the brand’s iconic cans sealed fresh right before them.

The café offers a coffee blend exclusively roasted for Roadies, featuring a specialty Arabica and a phenomenal naturally processed Robusta from the hills of Coorg. Apart from the Indian and Asian platters, the Roadies Koffeehouz menu also offers hand-stretched fire oven pizzas, hand-made patty burgers, sourdough toasts, and vegan tacos along with an extensive American breakfast menu featuring their award-winning pancakes.

Excitedly taking a media query regarding the feasibility of the 24×7 cafe service concept, Chef Kunal, a pass out from the local Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management, Catering & Nutrition, shared: “Some 25 years ago when we as college students felt hunger pangs late at night, we had very few options. We could either go to Sector 22 opposite the ISBT or to the PGI for having paranthas or whatever little else was on offer.

“How times have changed (dramatically) since then! There is a significant demand for eating out late especially from the fun-loving, and those whose working hours are linked to clients in the US, UK and EU countries, who would either like to take a break or enjoy a cool environment while working at ‘odd hours’,” he added.

Everything about the cafe is funky, in the true spirit of the Roadies, right from the hoarding,   to the jazzy designs on its outer wall, and of course the interiors. As you enter the cafe a ‘Bullet’ motorcycle with a splash of paint of all hues and a host of jazzy expressions greet your eyes. Dozens of framed pictures of Roadies adventurers adorn the walls.

Exhilarating messages of adventure and exploring the unknown and the unseen intersperse the pictures, like ‘A Roadies Story: Fight Grit N Glory’, ‘Wanderer – Live Free Ride Hard’, ‘Ride Long and Koffee Strong’, ‘Your Journey Starts Here’ & ‘Make Life Your Stage’.

Then there is a wall celebrating the Roadies Koffeehouz ‘Superstars’. Pictures of Kabir Waraich, the uncrowned prince of Indian off-roads, Supermanikk, Punjab’s rap sensation and record producer, who is taking the country’s hip-hop scene to new limits, and Ananya Kapoor, the golfing sensation who has taken the country’s junior golf scene by storm, find a pride of place here.

The place ticks all the right boxes for an enjoyable break, outing, party, hang-out with friends. So, are you ready for the exhilarating experience!

Must Watch: 3-Gen Emotional Drama Of Separation From Dear Ones

0

Dil Diyaan Gallaan (dil ki batein in Hindi) is a topic, title and theme which resonates instantly with the large-hearted, frank and outspoken Punjabi culture. No wonder then that this theme has been used as a title in a Punjabi feature film, a talk show and even in a telefilm in our neighbouring country, and more. Now comes announcement of a very promising and absorbing Hindi family drama with this evergreen title to feature on popular entertainment channel Sony SAB from December 12.

‘Dil Diyaan Gallaan’ explores the painful journey of three generations of a Punjabi family from Hosharipur, torn apart by migration abroad of an elder son, where the first two generations refuse to forgive and forget, but are forced to face their past and hopefully heal when the third generation steps in.

Will the third generation succeed? We’ll see as the absorbing family drama unfolds.

Photos Courtesy: Sony SAB TV

Produced for Sony SAB TV by well known telefilms maker Rashmi Sharma, under the banner of Rashmi Sharma Telefilms, the serial has a talented cast led by veteran film and Tv actor Pankaj Berry, and including among others Kaveri Priyam, Jasjeet Babbar, Sandeep Baswana, Ravi Gossain and Hema Sood.

So folks, brace yourself to once again come out of your individual rooms and sit close in the hall with the family 7:30 p.m. every Monday to Saturday to experience and feel this emotion-charged family drama touch a chord deep inside you.

Besides screening a few promos, SAB TV also presented the entire cast of the teleshow during a media interaction as part of its National launch in Chandigarh on Wednesday.

Though the plot of the show is set in Punjab, the channel feels that it is sure to resonate with the Indian audiences nationwide and worldwide since it highlights the predicament of innumerable families who are distanced from their loved ones due to migration abroad, misunderstandings and unspoken words.

Neeraj Vyas, Business Head, Sony SAB, described the show as a “milestone” in the entertainment channel’s new journey over the past two years “to connect with the viewers through stories that matter to them and are a reflection of their own life, their problems and their hopes.”

In the context of his own young son readying to move abroad to pursue higher studies, Pankaj Berry, who has acted in several Hindi films and popular Tv serials like Gul Gulshan Gulfaam and Tenali Rama,  feels that he is living himself while portraying the first generation character of Dilpreet Brar in the show. “Every character in ‘Dil Diyaan Gallaan’ is reliving the realities of most families, and hence the confidence that it will instantly connect with the viewers,” he added.

Producer Rashmi Sharma, who has long running teleserials like Saath Nibhana Saathiya, Silsila Pyar Ka, Sasural Simran Ka and Swaragini under her belt, says ‘Dil Diyaan Gallaan’ had to have a plot set in Punjab because “there cannot be more compatible people than Punjabis to relate ‘dil diyaan gallaan’ (meaning ‘dil ki batein’ in Hindi). They are so frank and forthwith while expressing their emotions.”

Neeraj Vyas was noncommittal about how many episodes of the teleserial to expect, saying “we’ll be happy if it runs a year or little over that. But if it resonates with the viewers the way we expect it to, then there is no limit. We have worked very hard on getting a good story and a good cast, hence we can assure one thing, that it will not be dragged beyond a point where it ceases to be lovable among the audiences,” he added.

Reacting to how many episodes have been shot already, Rashmi said shooting is ongoing and “we expect to have an adequate number of episodes ready before we present the first episode to the viewers on December 12.”

‘Dil Diyaan Gallaan’: 7:30 p.m. every Monday to Saturday, only on Sony SAB TV

Talented & Senior Artists From Across India Showcase Their Art Works

0

The 50 odd art works, by 10 highly talented and accomplished artists from across the country, revolve around the theme of the 8-day exhibition ‘Chalo Ghar Chalein’, which got under way at a private gallery in Sector 11 Chandigarh on Saturday. Organised by 105 Arts at H.No. 105, and curated by art lover and curator Mehak Bhan, the exhibition will be open all days Nov 25-Dec 2 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

News website LifeInChandigarh.com took a round of the exhibition for the benefit of readers during a well attended preview for select media and art lovers organised Friday, a day before the formal opening.

Photos By : Life In Chandigarh

Introducing us to the exhibition, and explaining the reason behind the theme of the exhibition ‘Chalo Ghar Chalein’, its curator Mehak Bhan said, “The exhibition endeavours to capture the magnetism of home; its pull. Every aspect of home that is highlighted in each of the works will mesmerise the viewer with the sweet, simple warmth of a family, a home, a ‘ghar’, which is more than a place.”

The art works, largely paintings and a couple of sculptures, reflect the artists’ deep, yet diverse associations with ‘ghar’.

On display are works of senior artists like economist-turned-painter Nayanaa Kanodia and Vinita Karim, both of whom travel the world with their exhibitions. Canvases by artists like Satyadheer Singh, Manisha Agrawal, Daphy Brar, Sandesh Khule and Priyanka Aelay will draw the viewers to experience the familiar with a fresh new perspective.

Looking at the sculptures by Swati Pasari one will be instantly transported to a ‘pooja ghar’ with minds and hearts filled with peace.

Ashif Hossain’s two paintings, including ‘Old Bombay Kala Ghoda’, find inspiration in the chaotic life of Indian Metropolitan cities and their populations, while Shiv Kumar Soni uses his imagination to inspire, and take viewers down memory lane of their own childhood to simplistic activities that once provided us endless joy, like kite-flying, chasing a dog, or playing with balloons, hats or toys.

The paintings on display use diverse mediums like watercolour on paper (Daphy Brar), oil on canvas (Nayanaa Kanodia), ink on paper, acrylic on paper (Satyadheer Singh) and acrylic on canvas (Ashif Hossain, Sandesh Khule, Priyanka Aelay & Shiv Kumar Soni).

Brief profiles

Nayanaa Kanodia

An economist turned painter and a brilliant colourist with a strong individualism in her work, Nayanaa Kanodia is a pioneer in the genre of L’Art Naif in India. Her ‘Naïve Art’, while delights the viewer with its whimsy, vibrant colours and polished surfaces, reflects a certain truth of life, and conveys important social messages through gentle wit and satire. Musee International D’Naif Art in Paris permanently displays her paintings. She has exhibited and demonstrated her painting techniques in Victoria and Albert Museum in London. She is the first Indian whose paintings have been selected in ‘Paintings In Hospitals.UK’, and first Indian to be appointed as a juror for Prisma Art Prize for their Rome Dividere in Europe. Featured in an international publication Women in Art by Reinhard Fuchs, a rare honour, she was chosen from all the artists of The Commonwealth Countries to have a solo show in their newly renovated complex in London. Impressed with the social messages conveyed in her paintings, a consortium of schools in Los Altos, U.S.A. is using her work as a medium of instruction to their students.

Shiv Kumar Soni

For someone who treasures childhood, Shiv Kumar Soni paints happy memories in vivid hues. This young and talented artist from Rajasthan (Bidasar, Churu), graduated in visual art, from Rajasthan School of Art, Jaipur. An imaginative painter, his likes to paint with acrylic color in water colored style. His artworks are alive with his observations as a child, brimming with life and quirky characters. Shiv also paints arresting landscapes in water color.

The main aim of his paintings is to evoke a sense of pleasure, to inspire and take viewers down memory lane of their own childhood to simplistic activities that once provided us endless joy, like flying a kite, chasing a dog or playing with balloons, hats or toys.

Daphy Brar

Daphy Brar’s paintings are a soulful rendition, a harmonious expression of a gamut of emotions. The world of art has been an integral part of her life, through her multiple qualifications including a PhD, a Master’s degree in design and a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts and her experience as Chairperson of the University Institute of Fashion Technology & Vocation Development (UIFT & VD), Panjab University, Chandigarh. Her eclectic and wide-ranging interests inspire and provide great depth to her works.

The magic of her brush and water colours present to the viewer a visual lexicon of the simplest and most universal of subjects – love, loss, solitude, with her very own touch of quirk and vibrant colours. Her paintings are dreamscapes that are rooted in the daily life, thoughts and feelings.

Swati Pasari

Soulink is an art brand based in Kolkata established by talented artist Swati Pasari who has been painting since 2007. A Pranic healer, her quest to express the spiritual in the tangible form has inspired her to create art on canvas and sculptural form. For Swati, art is said to be the journey of free soul, every artist strives for inner peace, and art is only a method of finding inner wholesomeness.

Her pieces bring calm, peace and composure to whoever views it.

Sandesh Khule

Sacred geometry inherent in the universe acts as the primary source of inspiration for Sandesh Khule’s works as an artist. This inspiration is coupled with the philosophy originating from his personal experiences of his native culture and the mysterious ways in which Nature functions. Khule is drawn to abstraction forming a fundamental part of his pictorial practice and search for the genesis of the cosmos. In Indian tradition, source of energy is metaphorically referred to as goddess .i.e. female form of genesis.

Khule adheres to this source of energy as his prime idea of representation in his paintings, and employs an impasto technique of applying the pigment that not only enhances the colour but the reverberance created as the visual effect. His works are inspired by extensive study of the ancient Ellora caves of India, his explorations of the ancient Indic Purana, Vedas in Chennai, of cultural insignia etc. Lyrical forms, according to him, tend to distract the direct perception and hence he avoids decorative elements in his compositions. Curious, his works are about mysteries of life, of universe, an extension to his inquisitiveness for cosmogony.

Priyanka Aelay

Born in 1990 at Hyderabad, Telangana, Priyanka Aelay is known for her contemporary work which represents a lot of flora and fauna with a minimalist approach towards Indian miniature art. Her work invites the viewer into her own web of creative impulses, spectacularly woven into known and unknown corral forms. The known mutate the unknown, imitating and renovating the ‘real’, as her ‘kunstwollen’ further gives rise to an innovative visual glossary of the implausible Imagery, which is predominant in her intricate detailed work.

Priyanka has a doctorate degree and is a research scholar from The English and Foreign Languages University, and has completed her Masters in Painting from Hyderabad Central University. Priyanka’s present series is mostly on acrylic on canvas. She is credited with numerous prominent shows in India and abroad. She has been part of the prestigious cross residency program in Bordeaux, France by Bordeaux Metropolis and Kalakriti art gallery in Hyderabad and another residency by A4all in Sanskriti Kendra, Delhi, India.

Satyadheer Singh

Born in the city of Allahabad (now Prayagraj), Satyadheer Singh, post his graduation in BFA from Allahabad University, moved to Bhopal to work from Bharat Bhawan (a world renowned multi art center) as a full time artist. Passionate about Hindi literature, his interest gave a creative bend to his mind, and he decided to express those thoughts in the form of paintings and drawings. The whole process of creative expression and the artistic environment at Bharat Bhawan helped him shape his talent and evolve as an artist.

His art depicts narratives in his own figurative style. Dramatic and explanative, he paints his figures in bold contours and spontaneity rendering the pictorial vocabulary rich and rhythmic. He is also drawn to folk and traditional history and philosophy, and all this finds place in his art in exaggerated, outstretched and animated narratives. Drawing from ordinary life experiences of the common man, his paintings show conflict between a dream and the real world.

Vinita Karim

Born in Myanmar, of Indian descent, educated in both Sweden and the Philippines, Vinita’s nomadic lifestyle has taken her across the world. She channels her constantly changing surroundings into her passion for art. No matter where she goes, through her paintings, sculptures, and installations, Vinita carries with her the rest of the world. While no image is an exact replica of any one city, she brings alive her musings of the magical elements of each place.

Her abstract cityscapes invite the viewer to enter them and inhabit a world with a pure golden sky, deep reds and blues shaping a rolling sea, festively coloured buildings, and a thin cloud stretching endlessly across the sky.

Vinita paints her joy: the dream-like quality of her cityscapes reveals the beauty and grace she finds through both adversity and success. Every element in her paintings partakes in this celebration of life. Though Vinita’s cities manifest on canvas without any specific portrayal of people, they exude a sense of warmth derived from their abundance of life and revelry. This warmth translates beautifully to her sculptures. Her ‘egg’ series are not just beautiful shapes with ravishing colors but also represent the fascination of Life’s beginnings.

Ashif Hossain

Based in Mumbai, Ashif Hossain is an artist from Kolkata who finds inspiration in the chaotic life of the Indian metropolitan cities and its people. His art, mostly in black and brown hues, reflects everyday life and the vibrant Indian culture along with its secularism. A Fine Arts graduate from the Government College of Arts, Kolkata, for Ashif, contrasts the modern with the past, the infrastructure, the people and the busy chaotic lives of the cities. His works depict his thoughts on life and it’s past. His current muse is the Eternal City of Benares – one of the holiest cities in India, where pilgrims flock to the place to take a dip in the holy Ganges River, which is believed to absolve one from all sins.

Manisha Agrawal

Indore-based Manisha Agrawal studied painting in the Government Fine Art College, Indore.  Growing in a culture where flora and fauna have a special place in the people’s religious life, Manisha looks at them as an integral part of natural and human life, finding a unique expression in her works. Many of her recent works are in a way a condolence to nature, which is being destroyed by rapid, unplanned industrialization and urbanization. Concerned with climate change, global warming, toxic pollution, mass extinction, extreme weather, she paints symbols and elements to capture the nihilistic future we are heading towards. Manisha has participated in many group shows across the country.  She lives and works in Indore (India).

Limited Korean Products A Big Disappointment

0

I was excited to receive an invite to the formal inauguration of Korea Fair In India 2022 by the Korean Ambassador Chang Jae-bok at the busy Nexus Elante Mall on Thursday evening, with a cultural programme and a taekwondo demonstration to boot. This was to be my first opportunity to feast my eyes on Korean consumer products, other than automobiles and electronics, in an exhibition. On reaching the main atrium of the mall, the venue of the exhibition, however, my enthusiasm turned into disappointment.

The micro exhibition, if you will, barely gave a window to the wide range of high quality consumer products one would expect from a highly scientifically and technologically advanced country. Less than a dozen mini stalls is all there is to the exhibition, displaying a limited range of products – from cosmetics to beauty products, artificial jewellery and dressing accessories, snacks and other food items, Korean teas and water purifiers.

Photos By : Life In Chandigarh

The cultural programme, preceding the formal inauguration and involving traditional Korean drum and other musical instruments, and a dance performance, along with a demonstration of taekwondo skills by a troupe of Indian and Korean performers, was entertaining for the curious crowd of visitors to the mall who thronged the atrium and the floor balconies to watch.

The 4-day exhibition (Nov 24-27) is being hosted by Nexus Elante Mall in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (Kotra).

Frequent visitors to the National capital would vouch for the sheer vastness of its instantly lovable and lingering menus of authentic Indian and world cuisines, and are now enjoying it right here in their own city.

Ideally located on 3rd floor of Nexus Elante Mall, opposite the Food Court, and right next to ‘Fun City’ play area, United Coffee House Rewind – Since 1942 is beginning to turn on that CP Delhi magic with its vastly diverse menus of North Indian, Asian, Continental and Oriental cuisines, fast food, seafood, beverages and desserts.

A first look at the chic interiors of the sprawling cafe, restaurant and bar, which give a casual and contemporary retro vibe, and listening in to the nostalgia-generating soft Hindi and English music of the 1950s and 60s sets the tone for your Rewind experience.

With a combination of Victorian tiles, timber and premium carpeting making up the floors, fresco painting adorning the ceiling with a large central chandelier, and contemporary chesters, table tops lined with tiles, sofas lined up straight for casual dining, old-world rounded sofas for close conversations and cabanas for those who love their privacy, UCH Rewind caters to all tastes under one roof.

News website LifeInChandigarh.com had an occasion to exclusively review UCH Rewind while the New Delhi-based third generation custodian of the bygone era of UCH, Akash Kalra was on a visit here.

Taking us down memory lane, Akash, who travels the world looking for best of legacy and new age restaurants, especially in Europe, says it was his grandfather Lala Hansraj Kalra, an affluent liquor baron, who, fascinated by the affluent crowd that thronged the wondrous Connaught Place during the British Raj times in the early 1930s, opened United Coffee House, Delhi’s first cafe, in 1942. It soon became a rendezvous for the influencers for casual chit-chat and sharing of thoughts, ideas and opinions.

From politicians, administrators, writers, poets, painters, industrialists, businessmen and professionals, the affluent crowd from across the social spectrum made UCH their melting pot for all seasons.

Evolving and preserving this legacy, Akash conceptualized the modern day cousin of UCH. Thus came into being United Coffee House Rewind. He calls it “a young, casual dining place that entertains and provides for patrons across generations. It’s vibrant, retro and a fun place, while at the same time an elegant and chic reminder of the bygone era!”

UCH Rewind presents a wide array of 300 menu items to choose from authentic North Indian to Asian, Continental and Oriental cuisines, fast food, sea food, beverages and desserts.

The home grown fashion designer told a press conference on Thursday that more than 150 designs in traditional and ethnic wedding couture, bridal lehengas, sharara suits, gararar suits, designer dupattas, formal suits, Indo-western dresses and designer shawls will the showcased in the celebration exhibition and fashion show ‘Peedhi’, which will feature three ‘peedhis’ (generations) – very young girls, professional models and middle aged ladies.

Unveiling a ‘Look Book’ on the occasion, Aman Sandhu said it offers a peep into her collections with some key designs of her 20 year journey so far. “The design in each ‘look’ represents the timeless heritage of Punjabi culture. The floral motifs, hand embroidery, beaded embellishments, and intricate patterns on each of the attires mirror craftsmanship of the highest order,” she added.

In traditional Punjabi suits, she plays with a variety of fabrics for shirt and bottom like Pure Georgette, Pure Self Georgette, Pure Silk, Velvet, Crepe Karanchi, Crepe Tabbi Silk, Pure Crepe and Pure Self Crepe. In dupattas, the choice is between Net, Chinon Chiffon, Self Chiffon, Georgette Chiffon, Organza, Tabbi Silk, Tissue Silk and Banarsi Silk. For shawls, she invariably uses velvet fabric. Handwork is her first choice for detail, though she also at times uses aari work and machine work.

The couturier says she has 48 dedicated workers, some them have been with her right from when she started in 2002. With ‘Rabb di mehar’, business has been brisk, with most of her collections getting sold in no time. “I am expecting an even better response for the November 19 exhibition,” she states with confidence.

Dwelling deeper into her collections, she said “We’ve passed on from the era of playing safe to that of continuous experimentation. This is a season of bright and popping colours, essentially rainbow colours. Hues of pink, blue, yellow, orange and even purple would be the colours to look out for this season. Accessorising, like jacket style suits, will also be a key element. Being an explorer, I love to experiment with the handwork, fabrics, embroideries and fusion dresses, and it will reflect in my collections.”

Apart from haute couture, Aman Sandhu has also launched her western wear line by the name ‘Clowest’.

Aman admits that her collections would be perceived by most to be expensive, but defends the high price saying all her designs are unique to every piece and there is no compromise on the quality of fabric and craftsmanship, which is guaranteed. The collection starts from Rs. 4,000-4500.

There’ll be celebration discounts on offer in the exhibition.
