Making Eating Out Synonymous With Nutritious & Healthy Homemade Food

For residents of Mohali and around, the constant struggle to strike a balance between taste and health, especially when eating out, may be over. Royal Nutrition House, a cafe-restaurant with roots in Patiala which has won many a heart with its nutritious, yet tasty, home style recipes within just two years of its existence, has just opened its 6th outlet in Phase 3B2 Mohali. It has a menu line boasting of multi cuisines from genres like Indian, Continental, Arabic, Thai, etc.

As the name suggests, marrying nutrition with taste has been central to the thought process behind Royal Nutrition House (RNH), which started as an in-house kitchen in Patiala in 2017 and quickly found acceptance and patronage among large sections of the health and fitness conscious millennials in the region. The thought has been translated into reality by the restaurant chain’s nutritional advisors in association with masterly chefs.

The Mohali outlet, opened on franchisee model, has come after successful launches in Patiala (where a 2nd outlet is coming up), Amritsar, Bathinda and Panchkula.

The promoter duo of RNH, Raveesh Malhotra and Vikramjit Singh Mann, in an informal chat with LifeInChandigarh.com at the launch ceremony, graced by Punjabi movie star Binu Dhillon, shared that “generally, we Indians in our heart of hearts believe that eating homemade food is healthy and eating out is not. But we nonetheless do indulge in eating out, some of us occasionally and some frequently, though with a sense of guilt, as if we are committing a sin.

“When you are visiting or patronising Royal Nutrition House you are free from that guilt of eating unhealthy, because we make sure that everything you eat or drink is nutritionally balanced and healthy, without compromising on that great taste and experience we all crave. Our motto is ‘Cooked to taste, topped with nutrition’.”

Raveesh, who started the in-house kitchen in Patiala, added “The idea is to usher change in people’s lifestyle by giving them an opportunity to have the best and the most nutritious ingredients in recipes.”

Vikramjit informed us about the farms they own, where they grow nutritious ingredients like quinoa (a gluten-free high-in-protein plant food), black rice and others. “We have 100 percent gluten-free offerings on our menu. For the purists, there are pure vegan dishes. All meals are served with house salad and homemade dips. We do not use ‘maida’, preservatives or artificial colours in our food. Breads are all ‘suji’ based. Only freshly ground spices are used for that great aroma,” he emphasised.

The restaurant menu is not exactly usual. One can read things like ‘Add Your Protein In Salad’ Tofu (100 g) – 95, Cottage Cheese – 105, Silicon Tofu – 125, GreekFeta (50 g) – 85. Such information is aimed at helping a foodie know exactly how much protein, carbs, etc. he or she is partaking in the meal ordered.

The beverage menu is extensive and includes signature RNH Detox juices. ‘Miracle drink’ with a mixture of apple, beetroot and carrot juices is also a great detoxifier when consumed regularly over a period of time. A bevy of tasty and healthy smoothies are on offer, among them interesting meal replacement, pre-work out and post-work out concoctions.

The place has a nearly unending variety of breakfast options – RNH Full English Breakfast, Vegan Omelet, Quinoa Upma, Avocados On Toast, Arabic Eggs, and many more. Shakshuka, a simple preparation of eggs poached in a hearty spiced tomato and pepper sauce, is also a great attraction for breakfast.

In starters, tacos prepared in-house are inviting. A Punjabi touch has been given here in a few items like Spicy Punjabi Style Prawn Taco and Spicy Punjabi Tofu Taco. Among quesadillas on the menu Seafood Quesadilla is a must try. Platters like Grilled Paneer/Tofu with Pineapple Skewers and Muglai Mutton Fitters are sumptuous.

All salads at RNH are prepared with 100% natural ingredients with dressing of extra virgin olive oil.

Asian Hot Bowls are delicious and healthy. Here Thai Curry served with brown rice/quinoa/black rice, RNH Special Rice Bowl and Korean Fish Bowl tickle your taste buds. RNH’s Basil Pesto Meal, which has grilled protein served with basil pesto sauce, is equally enjoyable. The RNH Chef Special Spaghetti and vegetable Aglio e Olio Pasta is out of this world.

All pizza bases in the restaurant use whole wheat flour. The non-veg pizza ‘London To Ludhiana’ has been specially prepared with the Punjabi taste in mind. Burgers are healthy too.

The menu is not complete without desserts, and the options here too in Royal Nutrition House are plenty. The RNH Special Strawberry-stuffed French Toast, made using peanut butter/almond butter/homemade cheese/nutella, is fun biting into.
